It’s natural to worry about what’s going on when a dentist is at work. It’s your mouth, after all! How do we address that? Essentially, by equipping you with the knowledge to overcome your fear. During an initial examination, we talk you through what we’re doing and what we’re finding – and we do it in everyday language, not jargon. At all times you know just what’s going on. With the dental video camera, we can also show you exactly what we’re seeing.
Having made that examination, we then talk to you about what we found, and what treatment may be needed. In many situations, there will be options. If that’s the case, we’ll talk through the pros and cons of each choice, so that you understand what we will be doing, and why.
Before treatment begins, we’ll again explain to you what we’re going to do and, if you want, we’ll make a commentary to keep you informed. At this point, though, many of our patients prefer to be distracted by listening to music, watching TV or a DVD on the widescreen monitor that’s in their sightline.
